Name: Ginevra Molly Weasley
Canon: JK Rowling's Harry Potter
Original or Alternate Universe: Original
Canon Point: 6 months post-Deathly Hallows
Number: 016, please!
Setting: The World According to Harry Potter.
History: Ginny Weasley was born the youngest of the seven children of Arthur and Molly Weasley. As well as the only girl in several generations. Being the only girl means she was sometimes left out of her brothers' (Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, George, and Ron) fun and games, but being a Weasley means she was crafty enough to create her own fun, like stealing each of their brooms in turn and riding around while they weren't looking.
When she was still just a young girl, she met Harry Potter, better known as The-Boy-Who-Lived in the magical community. His celebrity status left her awe-struck, and she was quickly smitten. At first, she let this crush cause her to be tongue-tied, but eventually she gave up letting her feelings get in her way. More importantly, she gave up on waiting for Harry to notice her.
She had far more important things to worry about anyway. In her very first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Ginny was possessed by the specter of Lord Voldemort's teenaged self, Tom Riddle. As his vessel, she put her fellow students in terrible danger, and nearly had her life traded for his. If not for her brother Ron, and his best friend Harry.
It took Ginny some time to come out of her shell again, and while she was doing that, things were slowly degrading from bad to worse. Lord Voldemort was undeniably on the rise once again, and it left little time for Ginny or any of her friends to focus on the normal parts of being a teenager. At the age of only fourteen, she was taking on members of Voldemort's personal army, the Death Eaters. (Not with terribly much success, but the courage alone required to face them is more than worth noting.) The following year, she stood in defense of her school as it was invaded by his army once more, and Albus Dumbledore, headmaster at Hogwarts and a living legend of a wizard, was slain.
By sixteen, she'd seen most of her family members in danger, injured. Her brother George had lost an ear, and in the final battle that would vanquish Voldemort and crush his followers, his twin Fred lost his life. Many of her friends and classmates lay wounded or dead in the aftermath of that battle. But it was over.
Somewhere in the flurry of it all, Harry had found her. In the wake of everything that had come before, Ginny couldn't think of a better partner to try and figure out what "normal life" is supposed to be like. But there's a saying about being unable to go home again, and it doesn't just refer to a physical place.
This is the truncated version of Ginny's history. If you would like more, please let me know and I would be happy to provide a tl;dr version.
Personality: Ginny is fiery, as redheads stereotypically are said to be. She's clever, loyal, and fiercely protective of her loved ones. In school, she was social and very outgoing. She had a few boyfriends, but nothing that lasted. When she doesn't feel a spark, she's quick to move on. This is applies both to her relationships and her hobbies. Ginny rarely wishes to waste time on things she's not passionate about, unless they serve a greater purpose. Sometimes that greater purpose can be as simple as "if I wash the dishes, I can start dinner."
The war has changed Ginny. She's not quite as exuberant as she once was, though she'll sometimes pretend she is. Those closest to her will sometimes see the young witch without her metaphorical mask on, catching glimpses of her melancholy. To acquaintances, however, Ginny may seem a bit callous, disaffected by the tragedy around her. She tries to be a pillar of support for her friends and her family, and she hopes that putting on that brave face will help everyone to move forward in some small way, and that maybe one day they'll be able to wake up and forget how much things have hurt. Being taken away from an environment with constant reminders of all that's been lost may help her heal, but it will also instill a new sort of sadness, albeit one that should be more easily overcome, all things considered.
Ginny's detachment from the Muggle world leaves her somewhat at a loss for how things work, but she's not entirely in the dark. Her father's work with Muggle curiosities has left her with some notions, but not all of them correct. Fortunately, she's had Harry for a guide to the world without magic. All told, it's a world she'd like to better get to know. There's something discouraging, however, about the Muggles being completely oblivious to the war that ripped apart her family. And at the same time, it's a blessing that saves her from knowing looks and awkward conversations.
She refuses to let herself be defined by the war, and hopes now, at eighteen and officially an adult (even if she was forced to grow up long ago), to finally discover herself and find her own way.
Revisions/Additions: Ginny, as previously mentioned, was the youngest of seven, and the only girl. This clearly shaped the kind of person she would become. Certainly her mother and father treated her differently. The first Weasley girl in seven generations! She was coddled, but so were the boys – Molly Weasley is exceptionally good at coddling her children – but Ginny was never limited. She was never told there were things she couldn't do on account of her gender, and while certainly feminine, she never acted the part of the shrinking violet that many little girls are expected to play. Being the smallest, the youngest, and often overlooked in the chaos caused by her older brothers, bred in her a mischievous streak. A boldness and independence she would never have come into on her own.
While she was shy and even meek as a young girl, as many young girls are when they first enter a new school where things can be overwhelming, Ginny grew into herself. She proved quickly that she would not hesitate to defend herself or those she cares about. She had been known to hex those who asked invasive questions of her just as surely as she would her enemies to escape a potentially dangerous situation. Perhaps her skill with destructive magics can be tied to her fiery nature, though she would argue there isn't any evidence of a correlation. She wouldn't say she has a temper, precisely, and neither would anyone else, to her face. In her mind, a little willingness to cause some trouble can be a very good thing. Blame Fred and George for that, if you like.
When Harry was faced with the realization that he had a psychic sort of connection to Lord Voldemort, Ginny had to quietly, but forcefully remind him that he wasn't alone, and that she had been in that scenario long before it was ever one of his fears. She struggled with the after effects of having been possessed by the Dark Lord for years, and still does to this day, although her nightmares are far more infrequent than they once were. The experience made her stronger. She suffered alone when it had happened, by necessity. She was unable to explain what was happening to her, trapped in her own mind by more than just fear and guilt. And in the aftermath, she kept her continued fears and doubts to herself. Not only did she want to avoid being a burden on those she cares about, but it wasn't like there was a support system in place for things like this. The rise of You-Know-Who was not one that was widely publicized for some time. If she'd thought it through more, had the benefit of the wisdom that comes with experience and age, she'd have realized that she didn't have to do it all alone. That's one of the things that made her and Harry different. He could rely on his friends to carry him through, and she chose to rely only on herself.
This isn't to say that Ginny considers herself a loner, simply guarded. There is a time and a place to discuss her concerns, though often she decides they needn't be discussed at all. Not unless they prove relevant. She doesn't hold a grudge against those around her for not realizing what she was struggling with. It isn't as if she had invited their help, after all. Still, she can't help but wonder sometimes how they could have been so blind to it. Voldemort tended to blind people to what was going on around them, admittedly. Even the events so close to home could be missed in favor of looking out on the horizon. If her family and friends weren't all so horribly affected by the war, and the terrible events surrounding it, she might be more inclined to open up now. But everyone has their scars, and Ginny feels selfish when it comes to baring hers.
Though the Tranquility offers a change of setting, a place unaffected by the war that tore her home apart, it doesn't entirely relieve Ginny of the responsibility she places upon herself. It's possible that it would, that she would reinvent herself in this place given the opportunity, but she isn't the only one from the wizarding world aboard the ship. Still, she's not ashamed of who she is, where she's been, or what she's done. The burden of expectation is one she is not unable to bear. She keeps going because she must. What alternative is there? And realistically, she knows she'll never escape the past, and she certainly never wants to forget it.
Abilities, Weaknesses and Power Limitations: A rundown of Magic in the Potterverse. By all accounts, Ginny is said to be a witch of some skill. Her elder brothers were quick to give her credit where it was due, citing her as an example that size is no guarantee of power. While Ginny certainly owes much of her prowess to innate skill, it's not a stretch to believe that much of her ability is also driven by necessity. Her areas of expertise are charms, and destructive dark magic. She also proved to be a talented duelist on multiple occasions, even teaming up with Luna Lovegood and Hermione Granger to fight the incredibly powerful Bellatrix Lestrange.
Magic allows most witches and wizards to recover from mundane injury fairly quickly in comparison to their Muggle counterparts. Given enough warning, she can ward off most damage, or she can mend it with a spell or two.
In addition to this, Ginny is adept on a broom, having been flying from the age of six. She's played both seeker and chaser and is considered skilled enough to be scouted for a position on a professional Quidditch team.
Inventory:
Her wand
A racing broom
A moving photograph of the Weasley family standing before pyramids in Egypt, torn in two
A couple changes of clothes, muggle style
A Gryffindor tie, tattered and singed
Appearance: Ginny Weasley as PB'd by Ronja Korhonen.
Ginny is a young woman of average height, with long red hair, a freckled face, and expressive brown eyes. She's lithe and moves easily, especially so on a broom. She stands up straight and holds her chin high, projecting an air of confidence to make a good impression. She's more relaxed around her friends, though, given to wearing her emotions plainly and even slouching. (The horror.)
Age: 18
AU Clarification: Ginny was previously on the Tranquility for all of a hot minute. She is familiar with the ship and its various technologies enough to not be horribly confused when she awakens, but will find things to be vastly different. To her, no time has passed since she got into her pod to prepare for her last jump (19, I think?), and waking up now. Her previous stay feels like a dream she can't quite recall, though things come back to her swiftly.

It hadn't taken long for Ginny to realize something was very wrong. Not in the sense that things are horrible, but in the sense that something was off.
For starters, there had otherwise been no indication that the Dark Lord himself was aboard this ship. There was no reason for her to spy him, still young, the way she'd known him when she was a little girl, at the end of a corridor. When his snake, Nagini, had spotted her and come slithering her way almost supernaturally fast, so large and terrible, there had been anxiety, yes, but she hadn't hesitated.
"Reducto!"
The snake seems both to contract and expand at once as its base composition is changed. True to the root of the spell, the false Nagini is reduced to black tendrils that dissipate like smoke in the wind. She almost wishes there had been someone else present to witness the display, which was impressive, if she did say so herself. Filled with a sense of self-satisfaction and pride, she nods once as if to say that's finished. It may not have been the real thing, but it was cathartic. That, she thinks, was for the attack on her father.
Rather than run from the apparition of Voldemort, she adjusts her grip on her wand. She thinks of Harry, of Ron and Hermione, thinks of George, and of Fred. The cold knot in her stomach is consumed by the fire in her heart. This most assuredly is not truly Tom Marvolo Riddle, but whatever it is, it'll serve as a reasonable surrogate. Determination propels her forward. Stalking down the hall, she means to find whatever that specter is and make it pay in the way the real Riddle never could.
